Residents and visitors in Sokcho will have a rare opportunity to experience world-class performances this spring, as the city has successfully secured several prestigious national arts touring programs. The National Chorus of Korea and the National Dance Company of Korea are scheduled to perform at the Sokcho Cultural Arts Center in April, bringing the pinnacle of South Korean performing arts to the coastal city.

The cultural feast begins on April 1 with the National Chorus of Korea's "Classic Serenade." Accompanied by a 22-piece orchestra, the ensemble will perform a diverse repertoire ranging from traditional Korean lyrical songs to famous tracks from movies, musicals, and operas. To deepen the audience's engagement, a special choral seminar titled "Joyful Choral Stories" will be held on March 31, the day before the main performance. Ticket reservations open on March 10 at 10:00 AM.

Following this, on April 17, the National Dance Company of Korea will present "Mongyu Dowon-mu." This masterpiece is inspired by the Joseon-period painting "Mongyu Dowondo" (Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land) by An Gyeon. The performance is highly acclaimed for its innovative fusion of music, costume, stage design, and video, creating a seamless and immersive artistic experience. Notably, the performance coincides with the center's special exhibition, "Joseon Art Studio," allowing visitors to enjoy both the painting and its dance interpretation simultaneously. Tickets for this show will be available starting March 24 at 10:00 AM.

Sokcho Mayor Lee Byung-sun expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are committed to enhancing the cultural welfare of our citizens by continuously hosting high-quality, diverse artistic genres. This is a significant step in strengthening our regional cultural competitiveness."

Both performances are open to elementary students and older, with a general admission fee of 20,000 KRW. Residents of the Seorak region (Sokcho, Yangyang, Goseong, and Inje) are eligible for a 50% discount. For more details and reservations, please visit the official website of the Sokcho Cultural Arts Center.
