Goseong County, the northern hub of the peace economy, has officially launched its "Geojin Beach Healing Landmark Development Project." This initiative aims to establish an organized and sustainable beach environment while catering to the growing demand for nature-based tourism.
The project was selected as part of the 2024 Special Situation Area Development Project. It involves a total investment of 6 billion KRW (4.8 billion KRW in national funds and 1.2 billion KRW in county funds) to develop the area around 1 Songpo-ri, Geojin-eup.
Eco-Friendly Infrastructure for Modern Travelers
To provide a safe and pleasant stay for visitors, the county will establish high-quality camping infrastructure, including:
40 Dedicated RV/Camping Car Sites: Specifically designed to accommodate the rising trend of mobile camping.
Modern Convenience Facilities: A central management building, restrooms, showers, and a communal kitchen area.
By creating a regulated and well-equipped stay-over space, the county expects to resolve the issue of disorderly beach use while significantly improving the quality of life for local residents.
Economic Vitalization through "Stay-over" Tourism
Goseong County anticipates that the project will lead to longer visitor stays, directly benefiting the local economy by revitalizing nearby commercial districts. The county aims to complete construction by the end of this year.
"This project is a proactive response to rapidly changing tourism trends and is meaningful in that it establishes a sustainable tourism foundation using our regional resources," said a Goseong County official. "We will do our best to create a healing destination that satisfies both residents and visitors, bringing new vitality to the Geojin area."
